Eines unserer Mitbringsel aus Kuba ist die Erinnerung an herrliche Sommermahlzeiten im El Dandy, unserem Lieblingsrestaurant in Havanna. Unser Lieblingsgericht war etwas, das man nur völlig unzureichend als Tomatensalat beschreiben kann: pico de gallo. Mein Sohn hat das Rezept herausgefunden: Von richtig reifen Tomaten die Kerne und alles Flüssige entfernen, eine Menge Koriander, etwas Salz und dann nur noch großzügig Limettensaft dazugeben. Sie haben es im El Dandy mit kleinen Tortillas serviert, aber weil Michaela und ich zu beschäftigt für ein großes Essen waren, gab es einfach Fladenbrot dazu. Ein wirklich perfektes Sommeressen!

One of the things we brought along from Cuba is the remembrance of some wonderful summer food from our favourite restaurant in Havanna, El Dandy. They served what can completley inadequate described as tomato salad: pico de gallo. My son came up with the final receipe: Remove all the seeds and fluid stuff from some ripe tomatoes, add lots of coriander, some salt and a generous amount of lime juice. That's all. They served it with small tortillas, but because Michaela and I were too busy for a long meal, so we just had a flat bread with the salad. A perfect summer meal!
