In 1993, after years of discussion, Richard Meier's 'Stadthaus' was opened. I lived in Ulm these days and have to admit that I wasn't a fan in the beginning. The Stadthaus is located right next to the Ulmer Münster/ Dome - like in: about 30 meters. The former free area of the market place now was blocked by a very modern, white building and lots of citizen hated it. Meanwhile, a lot of modern architecture has surrounded the dome, and I love the mixture of old and new - with the Stadthaus being the most beautiful building right next to the dome.

1993 ist in Ulm nach jahrelanger Diskussion das 'Stadthaus' von Richard Meier eröffnet worden. Ich habe damals in Ulm gelebt und muss zugeben, dass ich anfangs nicht wirklich ein Fan davon war. Das Stadthaus ist direkt neben dem Münster errichtet worden, wirklich direkt daneben, etwa 30 m. Die früher freie Fläche das Marktplatzes vor dem Münster war dann durch ein sehr modernes Gebäude blockiert und die meisten Einwohner haben es gehasst.
Mittlerweils umgibt jede Menge moderner Architektur das Münster, und ich liebe die Mischung aus alt und neu - mit dem Stadthaus neben dem Münster als schönsten Gebäuden.
