Friday food photo: pumpkin soup with sweet chestnuts

I spent a day in Luxemburg for my lecture and didn't make a single photo (which might illustrate how busy I was). But what I brought back home is a recipe, because I ate an ultimate version of pumpkin soup: combined with sweet marrons.

Ich bin für meinen Vortrag einen Tag lang in Luxemburg gewesen und habe nicht ein einziges Foto gemacht (was eine Vorstellung davon gibt, wieviel ich um die Ihren hatte), aber ich habe etwas mitgebracht: ein Rezept für die ultimative Kürbissuppe; nämlich mit Maronen.

Pumpkin slices and sweet chestnuts have the same baking time (around 20 min/ 200°C) and fit perfectly together on a baking tray. I always burned my fingers with sweet chestnuts, but if you cut them deep enough, they will open up in the oven and are easy to peel. A small bowl with water besides them will make the stay moist.

Put all together in a bowl and mix together with something creamy - for vegans, coconut milk f. e., otherwise crème fraîche or cream. Chili and Cajun spices will make a nice contrast to the sweetness of the pumpkin. 

Is there anything better than a hot soup when it's dark and cold outside (except from hot chocolate)?

Kürbisspalten und Maronen haben dieselbe Backzeit (ca. 20 min/ 200°C) und passen perfekt zusammen auf ein Backbleck. Ich habe mir an Maronen immer die Finger verbrannt, aber wenn man sie tief genug einschneidet, klappen sie im Ofen richtig auf und man kann sie ganz leicht schälen. Und wenn man ein kleines Schälchen mit Wasser daneben stellt, trocknen sie nicht aus.
